FAQs

What’s the difference between full and hidden tang knives?

The tang is the part where the handle material is attached. In terms of kitchen knives it’s simply a preference there will be no significant difference in performance.

Hidden (Sample Image below):

  • Lighter in weight

  • Handle material covers the steel part

  • Better aesthetically

Full (Sample Image Below):

  • Handle material is secured to both sides of tang

  • Secured by pins that can be visible or not

  • Usually heavier in weight (more heft)

  • Stronger construction

What’s the best steel?

It’s a matter of PREFERENCE. Carbon steel requires maintenance however, it is loved by chefs around the world due its ease of sharpening and its ability to hold a razor sharp edge. The Damascus is beautiful with all its patterns and it has the same characteristic as the carbon steel. Stainless requires virtually no maintenance and will also hold a razor sharp edge but is a bit harder to sharpen.

Do you have any available knives?

I usually make most of my knives per order. However sometimes I like to try new designs and methods when making knives and based on the quality of the outcome I will post it on sale in the available knives page.

How do you base your pricing?

Pricing depends on two major factors:

  1. Material Cost

  2. Labor (Time)

In terms of materials it depends on what is used for example a Damascus knife will cost more than a plain carbon steel one. Hidden tangs require more work to complete and are therefore more expensive than full tangs as they require more accuracy in terms of getting the tightest fit possible.

How does ordering a custom knife work?

Once you submit an order through the website or through instagram I will contact you with the pricing and timeframe. You can choose the handle material from what I have available or you can choose something specific and if I can get my hands on it I’'ll let you know. You can also supply me with your own material if it works! Once I get to your name on the list I will require a 50% downpayment and will ask for the other 50% once the project is done. Delivery arrangements will be organized once the project is completed.
